SUMMARY:Safe Streets - 49th Street (Lealman) Safety Walk Audit
DESCRIPTION:Pinellas County and Forward Pinellas have partnered on a safety study for a portion of the 49th Street corridor via the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. The study aims to develop recommendations that address safety issues identified through data collection and concerns brought forward by the Community. As part of this study\, a walking safety audit will be conducted on 49th Street (from 40th Ave N and 62nd Ave N). \nThe objective of the walk audit is to develop a better understanding of where there are safety concerns through observation of the corridor and its users; through assessment of the street\, sidewalks\, crossings and other features; and through listening and learning from the diverse perspectives and knowledge of the group. \nWHEN: Thursday\, May 16th from 9:30 am to noon. \nWHERE: We will meet in the parking lot of Publix Super Market at Disston Plaza at: 3501 49th St North\, St. Petersburg\, FL 33710. \nWHAT TO EXPECT: Following a short briefing\, we will walk north to 62nd Ave N. approximately 1.5 miles (between 40th Ave N and 62nd Ave N) and will have the option to walk back to starting location on the opposite side of the road or get a ride back to the Publix parking lot. Please wear comfortable shoes. Bottled water and roadway safety vests will be provided. As part of this study\, a walking safety audit will be conducted. \nThe objective of the walk audit is to develop a better understanding of where there are safety concerns through observation of the corridor and its users; through assessment of the street\, sidewalks\, crossings and other features; and through listening and learning from the diverse perspectives and knowledge of the group. \nWHEN: Tuesday\, June 4th from 7:30 am to noon. \nWHAT TO EXPECT: We will begin with a short discussion about the purpose and goals of this audit and then visit 3 locations in Oldsmar to walk the corridors/intersections and note safety issues we observe. But first\, we need to hear from you. \nThis month\, we’re holding in-person Housing Affordability Policy Workshops to have conversations with your local government staff. SUMMARY:49th Street Safety Study - Public Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Date: July 17\, 2024 \nTime: 6:00- 8:00 pm EST \nLocation: Lealman Exchange Community Center (5175 45th St N\, St Petersburg\, FL) \nAbout: Pinellas County and Forward Pinellas have partnered on a safety study for two segments of the 49th Street corridor. The first area of focus is located between 40th Ave N and 62 Ave N and the second between Ulmerton Rd and Roosevelt Blvd. The study\, funded through the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program\, aims to develop infrastructure improvement recommendations that address roadway safety issues on 49th Street. Project recommendations are being developed through engineering analysis based on the evaluation of current conditions and concerns brought forward by the Community. \nThis Public Workshop will be held to solicit community input on preliminary study findings and in the development of project recommendations. Participation in the Workshop is open to all who are interested.
