Forward Pinellas is issuing this call to solicit applications for funding from a variety of competitive grant programs. Local governments are invited to submit applications for any of the funding programs listed below, by providing the information requested on the referenced applications.

Over the past seven years, the Forward Pinellas Board has awarded more than $8 million toward the Complete Streets projects with the intent of assisting communities in meeting their goals for mobility and safe access for all users, regardless of mode of transportation, age or physical ability.

The Complete Streets Program provides opportunities for transformative land use changes by creating opportunities for walkable, bikeable and more livable communities.

Up to $100,000 will be available in Fiscal Year 2024/25 for concept planning projects and up to $1.5 million will be available for construction projects, to be included in the 2025/26-2029/30 Florida Department of Transportation Work Program. Forward Pinellas will be making our staff available to provide technical assistance throughout the application period.

Previous projects awarded include funding to Pinellas Park to help create a network of safer streets along 60th Street N. that accommodate all users while also enhancing the City Center and to the City of Largo for multimodal safety improvements in the West Bay Drive Community Redevelopment Area.

Transportation Alternatives is a federal funding program that can be used for pedestrian and bicycle projects, as well as infrastructure to improve non-driver access to transit. Applications received will be competitively scored using the criteria included in the application packet. The application addendum includes the program requirements and criteria.

Previous projects awarded include bicycle and pedestrian improvements along Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, new multiuse trail construction along 118th Avenue in Pinellas Park, and new sidewalk construction in the Lealman community.

The Call for Multimodal Priority List Projects is CLOSED at this time.

Projects included on the Multimodal Priority Project list will be eligible for a variety of state and federal funding resources. The projects solicited for this program will include, but not be limited to, roadway capacity improvements, roadway operational improvements, transit capital projects and technological investments that improve mobility. Projects will be competitively scored using criteria included in the application packet.

Through the Multimodal Priority Projects Program, Forward Pinellas strives to fund projects of countywide significance that improve mobility and accessibility for everyone, while supporting the redevelopment vision for the county and its many diverse communities. Current priorities include widening 126th Ave N in Pinellas Park, improving the intersection of Alt 19 and Curlew in Dunedin, adding infrastructure related to the Cross Bay Ferry service in St. Petersburg, procuring additional vehicles for regional vanpool services managed by the Tampa Bay Regional Transit Authority and improving the roadway along Martin Luther King Jr Blvd S in St. Petersburg to improve mobility for bicyclists and pedestrians.
