Safe Streets – 49th Street (Lealman) Safety Walk Audit
May 16 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Pinellas County and Forward Pinellas have partnered on a safety study for a portion of the 49th Street corridor via the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. The study aims to develop recommendations that address safety issues identified through data collection and concerns brought forward by the Community. As part of this study, a walking safety audit will be conducted on 49th Street (from 40th Ave N and 62nd Ave N).
The objective of the walk audit is to develop a better understanding of where there are safety concerns through observation of the corridor and its users; through assessment of the street, sidewalks, crossings and other features; and through listening and learning from the diverse perspectives and knowledge of the group.
WHEN: Thursday, May 16th from 9:30 am to noon.
WHERE: We will meet in the parking lot of Publix Super Market at Disston Plaza at: 3501 49th St North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Following a short briefing, we will walk north to 62nd Ave N. approximately 1.5 miles (between 40th Ave N and 62nd Ave N) and will have the option to walk back to starting location on the opposite side of the road or get a ride back to the Publix parking lot. Please wear comfortable shoes. Bottled water and roadway safety vests will be provided. We expect the entire audit to last around 2.5 hours.
