March 14, 2018 – Central Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) preferred route. The amendment updated the Long Range Transportation Plan to identify a locally preferred alternative route for the Central Avenue Bus Rapid Transit project. The amendment will update the transit maps to reflect this route. This amendment does not impact the cost feasibility of the LRTP.
February 14, 2018 – Howard Frankland Bridge Replacement Project. The amendment changed the description and project cost for the Howard Frankland Bridge Replacement project, reflecting the design updates that have occurred since the adoption of the plan in 2014. The amendment also removed two segments of U.S. Highway 19 from the LRTP, from South of Lake Street to the Pasco County Line, allowing for additional flexibility in determining the ultimate configuration of the roadway in northern Pinellas County.
February 10, 2016 – Central Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). This project would implement a bus rapid transit service on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg between downtown and the south County beaches. The amendment includes this project as part of the “cost feasible” element of the LRTP, which is necessary to secure additional federal revenues for the implementation of the project. The capital cost of the project is $16.5 million. Fifty percent of the project is expected to be funded by Federal funds through the Small Starts Program and the balance would be split between State and local sources. Approval of this amendment would allow Federal and State funding to be secured for the project.
May 10, 2017 – Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan (BPMP) amendment to add the Gateway Opportunity Corridor to the Plan. The BPMP is included in the LRTP by reference and any changes to the BPMP serve as modifications to the LRTP.
September 13, 2016 – LRTP Transit Vision Plan Map. Identify project on Transit Vision map to establish express bus service from downtown St. Petersburg to downtown Tampa. This modification will not affect the financial feasibility of the 2040 LRTP. The proposed route connects downtown St. Petersburg to HART’s Marion Transit Center in downtown Tampa, with stops at Gateway Mall (St. Petersburg) and Britton Plaza Station (Tampa). The express service utilizes I- 275 in Pinellas County and the Gandy Bridge. The project is currently unfunded. The amended map reflects a vision of a future bus service to major activity centers with improved frequencies and hours of service. This Vision Plan is based on the Community Bus Plan adopted by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) Board in 2014.
December 9, 2015 – The MPO approved the modifications described below.
Revision of the project limits described on page 5-5 for the I-275 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study to match the TIP. The project is currently underway in Pinellas County. In order to complete this study and receive federal approval, the description of this project must be consistent between the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and in the LRTP.
Revision of the project limits of the I-275 Express Lanes (FPN #424501-2) on pages 5-19 and 5-23 to match the TIP where it is currently scheduled for construction. In order for this project to advance, the descriptions in the TIP and LRTP must be consistent.
Add 4th Street/I-175 interchange project to page 5-24. The City of St. Petersburg identified this project which involves reconfiguring the 4th Street/I-175 interchange to allow direct access to the interstate for northbound motorists on 4th Street. There is no funding earmarked for this project.
Add footnotes to pages 5-24 and 5-26 to clarify the sources of funding for the projects shown. These modifications respond to comments received from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Modify Appendix E to clarify the source of funding for the identified projects. This is also in response to comments received from FHWA.
November 18, 2015 – Modifications to the LRTP were approved by the MPO to incorporate some additional routes, projects and facilities identified in the Community Bus Plan. These include the regional bus routes on East Lake Road and SR 60, the Central Avenue Bus Rapid Transit project, in its entirety, and additional park-and-ride locations. These proposed modifications are shown on the amended map.
