By Valerie Brookens, Principal Planner
Transportation shapes our daily lives—how we get to work, how goods move through our region, and how our communities grow. Forward Pinellas, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Pinellas County works with our local communities to create transportation plans and projects and help fund transportation priorities that best serve the needs of our county.
As we update our Public Participation Plan (PPP), we want to hear your preferences for how we can engage you on our transportation plans and projects. Take this short survey. Your feedback will be incorporated into the final plan.
The Public Participation Plan (PPP)
The PPP is a federally mandated document and our roadmap for how we engage with the community throughout the transportation planning process. It outlines how we share information, how the public can get involved, and the tools we use to ensure participation is transparent and meaningful. Public participation is not just a box to check—it’s how we create plans that truly reflect the needs and priorities of our communities. View our current Public Participation Plan.
Your Voice Guides the Plan
Our County is transforming, and so are the ways people communicate. Our residents expect engagement opportunities to fit their lives. We are always looking for ways to improve our reach, such as more interactive online tools, multilingual resources, and more opportunities for feedback earlier in the planning process.
Based on previous resident feedback, we have been meeting you where you are by shifting our outreach efforts to attendance at community pop-up events rather than hosting plan or project specific meetings and workshops. This is just one example of how your input can improve how we reach you!
Your voice matters! Please complete the survey to tell us your preferences for how we engage with you.
