Forward Pinellas Issues Call for Funding Opportunities for Local and Regional Partners
Local government and regional agencies operating in Pinellas County that are looking to make destinations more accessible, improve infrastructure for bicyclists and pedestrians, or improve mobility on the overall transportation network can apply now to fund projects through three Forward Pinellas programs.
We are currently accepting project applications for the following programs:
1. Complete Streets Grant Funding
Complete Streets are designed, operated and maintained for all users, regardless of age or ability, based on the context of the roadway and its surrounding area. Forward Pinellas has developed an incentive program to assist local governments in planning, designing and constructing Complete Streets projects. Up to $100,000 will be available in Fiscal Year 2021 for concept planning projects and up to $1 million will be available for construction projects, to be included in the next Florida Department of Transportation Five-Year Work Program. Forward Pinellas will make our staff available to provide technical assistance throughout the application period.
2. Transportation Alternatives Grant Funding
Transportation Alternatives is a federal funding program that can be used for pedestrian and bicycle projects, as well as infrastructure to improve non-auto access to transit. Applications received will be competitively scored using the criteria included in the application packet. The application addendum includes the program requirements and criteria.
3. Multimodal Priority Projects
The multimodal project priority list is for transportation projects using various federal and state funds to support and reinforce the Countywide Land Use Plan. Through this program, Forward Pinellas strives to fund projects of countywide significance that improve mobility and accessibility for all users of our transportation network, while supporting the land use and redevelopment vision for the county and its many diverse communities. Forward Pinellas will competitively score applications received using criteria included in the application packet to then advance the projects for funding consideration through the development of the FDOT Five Year Work Program and the Forward Pinellas Transportation Improvement Program.
Applications are due in phases. For full details on deadlines on each program refer to the appropriate Grant Funding Application.
